Derby Building Products shakes off the storm
Derby Building Products' Miami plant is back up and running after getting slammed with 100 mph winds and torrential rain from Hurricane Irma. The plant, which manufactures Tando and Novik product lines, lost power for over a week. Still, orders were sent out every day during the power outage, trhe company said.
Employees worked without air conditioning, lights or power and are now working to get caught up on production.
"Most importantly, our colleagues are all safe after this monstrous storm,” said Ralph Bruno, President, Derby Building Products. “Their dedication during this difficult time was nothing short of extraordinary.”
The company also expressed pride over the way Tando's newest product, Beach House Shake, performed during the storm. The demo wall in back of the plant was in the direct path of the hurricane winds and rain, yet the wall and product survived without any damage.
