Chadron Home Center closes building materials branch
Chadron Home Center in Chadron, Neb., will close its building materials branch, according to the Chadron Record.
Bob Baquet, Chadron Home Center owner/manager, said in a news release that the decision was prompted by finances. “These past 16 months, it has become overwhelming to balance the bad debt and operating loss we have incurred in our lumber operations,” he said.
Chadron Home Center, a True Value hardware franchise, opened in March 2005 in a former grocery store. It is owned by Baquet, his wife, Robyn, and her parents, Carleen and Merlyn Gramberg.
Chadron Home Center acquired the lumber and building supply store -- then known as Great Plains Building Center -- in late 2006.
The Chadron Home Center True Value store will continue to operate and will carry a limited amount of lumber and building materials, according to the article.
