Central Garden & Pet gets two new directors

Central Garden & Pet Company has named two new independent directors to its board, effective immediately.


Joining the company's existing seven directors are George Roeth and Thomas Colligan.


Roeth is a former exec at The Clorox Company, where he worked for 27 years. His most recent role was as COO and executive VP, during which time he led the execution of the strategic plan and delivered progress in sales, customer satisfaction and cost-cutting.

Roeth is a former exec at The Clorox Company, where he worked for 27 years. His most recent role was as COO and executive VP, during which time he led the execution of the strategic plan and delivered progress in sales, customer satisfaction and cost-cutting.


Colligan is a 37-year veteran of PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP, during which time he seved as vice chairman between 2001 and 2004. He is credited with developing a major client relationship strategy and playing a significant role in many high-profile transactions. He retired in 2004 and went on to the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, where he eventually became vice dean of executive education.

Colligan also currently serves on the boards of The ADT Corporation and The Targus Corporation, and consults to the board of Sharp Electronics. He previously served on the boards of CNH Global, Office Depot, Inc., Schering Plough Corporation, Educational Management Corporation, and Anesiva, Inc.
