Butler acquisition fits like a glove
Butler Home Products, a division of Bradshaw International, acquired Clean Ones Corp., a Portland, Oregon-based household glove company with more than 30 years in the market and nearly 2 billion gloves sold each year.
Butler Home Products sells cleaning tools (the company’s largest business segment), as well as lint rollers, garment and laundry care, reusable and disposable gloves, and household sponges. According to the announcement, the acquisition will allow Butler to expand its market share in gloves, while leveraging the company’s status as an innovative leader in the cleaning products industry.
Clean Ones will retain its name, and will be marketed as a brand under the Butler Home Products portfolio. As part of Butler’s overall corporate business, Clean Ones will maintain its Portland office, as well as the company’s existing distribution network.
Clean Ones’ has a national retail presence in club, grocery, mass merchandiser, automotive, private label, and various other distribution channels.
"Bringing Clean Ones into the Butler family represents an important step in the company’s overall growth plan,” said Robert Michelson, President of Butler Home Products. “Household gloves play an integral role in our business, and this acquisition will further accelerate Butler’s growth in the category.”
Michelson added that since Butler entered the glove business in 2011 with the Mr. Clean brand, the consumer glove market has expanded 35% as the use for the products expands throughout the house and into food prep. “The Clean Ones assortment enhances the product offering and gives retailers and consumers an even greater range of options from Butler,” he said.
