Building "apps" on the iPhone

1/22/2010

Software iPhone applications for the home improvement sector are proliferating.

Lumber Liquidators is among a growing group of home improvement and building materials companies to jump on the iPhone bandwagon with applications that help consumers find product or even perform tasks around the house.

The Toano, Va.-based flooring retailer's free "Floor Finder" app allows users to view some 200 digital samples on the screen of their phones. The app also calculates flooring needs and offers a click-to-call function for users to follow up on the products.

Other companies with iPhone applications include Stanley, which has lent its name to an app that acts as a working level for small jobs around the house. And DuPont has an app that allows users to compare countertop colors and styles in their kitchen.
