BMC expanding Washington millwork operations
BMC Stock Holdings, Inc. is relocating its Issaquah, Wa. operations to a new millwork facility roughly 24 miles downstate in Auburn.
According to the Atlanta, Ga.-based pro dealer, the new location is ideally situated for future growth, and will open for business in the first quarter of 2019.
The new 80,000 square-foot facility will emphasize “innovation and automation” while doubling the footprint and capacity of its predecessor, BMC said. Improvements in lead times and an expanded service area are also expected.
Additional operations features including adding custom and multi-family millwork along with pre-finish paint and stain capabilities to BMC offerings. Logistically, the facility will provide increased efficiency with a layout that includes 11 dock-high loading doors to decrease truck loading times and increase deliveries per day
“We are thrilled to expand our millwork production capacity in the Pacific Northwest market,” said Ted Hopkins, BMC Western Division vice president. “Millwork manufacturing, to include pre- hung doors, is a key component of providing whole-house and value-added solutions to our customers. By moving more of the construction process to our manufacturing facilities, and expanding our current capacity, our customers can continue to thrive despite a tight labor market while also saving both time and money.”
BMC also noted that the new Auburn facility’s square footage gain and modernization is poised for market growth down the road. The scope, size and layout of the facility will more than double BMC’s door production output capacity. Mirroring the success of BMC’s highly automated truss facility in Atlanta, Ga., the Auburn location aims to automate door lines in the future.
The relocation will begin on Oct. 1, BMC said.
BMC recently reported second quarter net sales increased 12.6% to $998.5 million.
