BMC acquires Locust Lumber

2/11/2019
BMC Stock Holdings, the Raleigh, N.C.-based pro dealer, has acquired Locust Lumber.

Located in Charlotte, Locust Lumber generated sales of $53 million in 2018. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Locust Lumber was established in 1952 by Roy Huneycutt and supplies lumber products and building materials primarily to custom home builders and remodelers in the Charlotte market.

“We are very pleased to announce the successful completion of another acquisition in the Charlotte market and would like to extend a warm welcome to the employees at Locust,” said Dave Flitman, president & CEO of BMC.  “Together with our recent acquisition of Barefoot & Company, the addition of Locust positions us as one of the top providers of building products, services and solutions in Charlotte, which is one of the nation’s top 10 housing markets.”

Last month, BMC acquired Barefoot & Company, a supplier of specialty products to home builders in the Charlotte market. Along with windows, exterior doors, and hardware, Barefoot also provides installation services for builders. Barefoot generated $52 million in net sales for the full year 2018.

Commenting on the strengths of Locust Lumber, Flitman said, “Locust brings with it strong relationships with custom builders and professional remodelers and helps to round out our geographic footprint in the Charlotte metropolitan area.”

BMC had sales of $3.4 billion and operates in 45 metro markets within 19 states, primarily in South and West.
