Beacon Roofing makes Florida acquisition

Beacon Roofing Supply, one of the nation’s largest distributors of roofing, siding and other exterior building products, has acquired Independent Building Materials (IBM), a distributor of mostly residential roofing systems and related accessories with one location in Orlando, Fla. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Rick Stiskin, who co-founded IBM with his retiring partner Dennis Booth, will remain IBM's general manager and be part of Beacon's regional leadership team. The acquisition will be Beacon’s first location in the Orlando market; the company said it hopes to expand its footprint in Florida.

Headquartered in Peabody, Mass., Beacon Roofing Supply ranked sixth, with $1.8 billion in sales, on the Home Channel News Top 350 Pro Dealer Scoreboard in 2009. The company operates 174 branches in 37 states in the United States and in three provinces in Eastern Canada.
