At BCMC, recession declared over

2/20/2018

Economist Stan Duobinis delivered his forecast Friday to a room of attendees of the Building Component Manufacturers Conference earlier this month. Duobinis predicted that the recession is finally over, yet unemployment will continue to lag through next year. He indicated that home prices are beginning to bounce back, and most of the country will post housing start gains in 2010.

The 2009 Building Component Manufacturers Conference (BCMC) -- the theme of which was "Soaring to New Heights" -- took place at the Phoenix Convention Center in Arizona. BCMC featured the second annual Structural Building Component Association (SBCA) Chapter competition, in which the chapter with the highest percentage of attendance at BCMC won a commemorative pin. This year’s winner was SBCA - Arizona with 56% of its chapter in attendance.

BCMC 2010: Revvin’ Up and Gaining Momentum, will return to Charlotte, N.C., next year from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1. See industry event calendar here.
