3/18/2020
Adding its voice to the chorus of retailers who emphasize the health and safety of its customers and employees, the Home Depot's precautions against the spread of the coronavirus include increase store cleaning, postponement of workshops and updated sick-time.

The company's "Covid-19 Update" was published March 12. Read it in its entirety here.

The Atlanta-based home improvement giant explained that it is encouraging sick employees to stay home. And so that they can avoid quickly exhausting sick, personal or vacation time, the company has "relaxed" its time-off policies when employees are directly or indirectly impacted by the coronavirus.

On the merchandising front, the update reads: "We’re seeing an increased demand for face masks, hand sanitizers and other cleaning supplies in our stores and online. Our merchandising and supply chain teams are working very hard to replenish these items as quickly as possible, and we’ve been restocking on a regular basis. To best serve as many customers as possible, we’ve implemented a purchase limit of 10 face masks per person."

The retailer also explained that customers who scheduled in-store services are free to postpone those services to a later date.

The practice of sharing coronavirus prevention measures with customers is becoming a retail industry standard. Other recent and similar broadcasts issued from Lowe's and Harbor Freight.
