In July, Five Corners True Value in Seattle was named one of the city’s favorite hardware stores by the readers of “Design Files,” a column in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Cornell’s True Value in Eastchester, N.Y., was recently named “Best Hardware Store” in the region by the readers of Westchester Magazine.
Rex Hardware, an Ace store based in Petaluma, Calif., was set to reopen Aug. 25, 14 months after fire gutted the 100-year-old store. A full-day community event was planned with live music, a free raffle of downtown Petaluma products, gift certificates and more.
A 9,000-square-foot True Value Hardware store opened Aug. 15 in Bethel, Conn., replacing a CVS pharmacy that had closed in April. The store features more than 30,000 items and includes an extensive paint department. Owner Bill Clifford previously owned Keeler True Value Hardware in Wilton, Conn., which he sold in February.
