Around the Web: Garfield Lumber to close
Garfield Lumber, a one-unit pro deal in St. Joseph, Mo., has begun liquidating its inventory, according to an article in the St. Joe News. The owners cited the poor economy and pressure from competitors like Home Depot, Lowe’s and Menards as factors in their decision to close.
Although the current lumberyard has been in place since 1936, the business began in 1888 as Dougherty Moss Lumber Co.
The entire liquidation process is expected to take eight to 10 weeks, the owners said. The property will also go on the market.
