Alabama-based Marvin's to open four stores this year
Marvin’s Building Materials and Home Centers announced plans to open four stores in 2009, bringing its total to 28 stores. Details of the first two projects were announced at the company’s recent annual expo and vendor meeting.
Marvin’s, which is headquartered in Leeds, Ala., will open a new store in Demopolis, Ala., replacing an old format store that has been in operation since 1999. The store, already under construction at a former Wal-Mart site, will be 38,000 square feet with an attached lawn and garden center and drive-through lumberyard.
“We are celebrating our 10th year in Demopolis by moving to a new store where we can offer our customers more products in an easier-to-shop store,” said Boyden Moore, Marvin’s president and CEO. The new store is expected to open in early June.
The other location, to be opened in Andalusia, Ala., is also under construction at a former Wal-Mart site. It will be a 36,000-square-foot store with an attached lawn and garden center and drive-through lumberyard that will also offer a complete line of building materials, electrical, plumbing, paint, millwork, hardware, tools and lawn and garden products.
Marvin’s will hire about 25 associates to work in the Andalusia store, which is expected to open in early July.
The other two store locations will be announced in May or June.
