84 Lumber closes more stores
The consolidation at 84 Lumber continued this week as the pro dealer closed stores in Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, Missouri, Florida, Virginia and Utah.
Jeff Nobers, the company’s vp-marketing and public relations, confirmed that 84 Lumber closed units in Bolivar, Mo., West Jordan, Utah; Lynchburg, Va.; Ocala, Fla.; Shelbyville, Ky.; Pocomoke City, Md.; Mt. Hope, W.Va. New Oxford, Pa.; and Circleville, Ohio.
Earlier this week, Home Channel News and other media outlets reported that 84 Lumber officials met with the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development about debt financing. The company would not comment on the purported meetings.
The Eighty-Four, Pa.-based company reported $2.1 billion in revenues for 2008, down from $3.1 billion in 2007.
