84 Lumber boosts contribution to feeding Pittsburgh

4/17/2020
84 Lumber and the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort have increased their contribution to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

Inspired by their community’s effort to feed those in need across western Pennsylvania, the sister companies decided to up the ante and challenge the community to raise $600,000 through WTAE-TV’s Project CommUnity Day of Giving held on April 15.

After hitting that goal, 84 Lumber and Nemacolin donated an additional $400,000, bringing the total raised to $1 million for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank said that the demand for food has increased severely as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Volunteers have been working each day to provide drive-through pick-ups throughout the region to feed children, families and senior citizens facing hardship in this time of need.

The WTAE-TV Project CommUnity Day of Giving encouraged friends, family and neighbors around Pittsburgh to donate to the food bank to ensure they can continue serving those who need it. Each $1 donation provides approximately five meals.

Based in Eighty Four, Pa., 84 Lumber operates 250 stores, component manufacturing plants, custom door shops, custom millwork shops and engineered wood product centers in more than 30 states.
