3 a.m. lawn tractor ride ends in arrest

2/20/2018

Michigan police recovered a lawn tractor allegedly stolen from Lowe’s after one of the suspects was discovered riding the vehicle at three o’clock in the morning, according to an article in the Grand Haven Tribune.

An officer from the Muskegon Heights Police Department observed a pick-up truck pulling a John Deere lawn tractor behind it early on Feb. 13. One 30-year-old male suspect was driving the truck, while a 40-year-old man was sitting on the tractor, according to police. After stopping the pair, police said they found price stickers and literature on both the tractor and a new generator in the back of the pick-up truck.

In a follow-up investigation, authorities claimed that the items had been stolen from a Lowe’s store in Muskegon. The items were on display in the front of the building, but security cables and a padlock had both been cut.

Both suspects were booked into Muskegon County Jail.
