Co-owners Mike and Brenda MacKay welcomed the community to the ceremonial board cutting of the new Vassar Building Center in Vassar, Mich.

The new 20,000 sq. ft. store replaces an earlier version of the business that had been operating in a nearby location since 1964.

“We couldn’t be more excited for everyone to experience the new Vassar Building Center,” said Mike MacKay. “From the weekend DIYer to the pro contractor, we’ve always been proud of the unparalleled service we offer. Now, with our new and much larger store, we’ve been able to greatly expand our product selection to meet all our customers’ project needs.”

In addition to hardware store essentials, the new Vassar Building Center also features a kitchen and bath design center and a full service lumberyard. Vassar Building Center is a member of the Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Do it Best Corp. co-op.

MacKay thanked the team for the accomplishment, including former Vassar Building Center employee Cherie (Swaffer) Jacobs, who led the Do it Best store design team.
