A new CEO for Pittsburgh Paints
The Pittsburgh Paints Company (PPC) has appointed Brian Carson as chief executive officer.
Carson was most recently president and CEO of AHF Products, a manufacturer of hard surface flooring for residential and commercial interiors. Prior to AHF, he spent 12 years with Mohawk Industries, Inc., ultimately serving as president of the company's North America flooring division.
“Brian is a proven winner leading building products companies with deep industry relationships and an exceptional record for repositioning major manufacturers to transform product vitality, channel effectiveness, profitability, and growth. He is the ideal candidate to accelerate PPC’s strategy as an independent company, including enhancing innovation and customer relationships, driving long-term growth, and renewing the Company’s legacy as an iconic, leading coatings provider in North America,” said Rick Hoffman, Partner at AIP, which acquired PPG's architectural coatings division in 2024.
Carson’s appointment follows PPC's recent "comprehensive cost reduction program," which the company said would involve facility closures and affect approximately 1,800 positions.
In addition to Carson's appointment, the company has also named Joe Durham as chief financial officer. Durham most recently served as CFO at Cabinetworks Group, the country’s largest privately owned cabinet manufacturer with more than 7,000 employees. PPC also appointed longtime Sherwin-Williams exec Brian Padden as president of its retail division.
“The Pittsburgh Paints Company has a century-long legacy, multi-billion-dollar scale, and a talented team, and we intend to make our mark in a vibrant and ever-changing paints and coatings industry,” said Brian Carson. “As we embark on this exciting new chapter for PPC, our customers remain at the heart of everything we do. Our strategy will prioritize building strong partnerships, fostering open communication, and delivering innovative offerings to drive long-term growth and success. I look forward to leading this wonderful organization at such a pivotal moment as we renew ourselves as a standalone business.”
