Mid-Cape Home Centers, a division of US LBM, announced the addition of two newly-wrapped Trucks-for-a-Cause to their ever-growing “Fleet of Hope.”

Joining the ranks are a truck wrapped for Big Brothers Big Sisters and one for Mental Health Awareness, which hit the streets just in time for Mental Health Awareness Month.

Mid-Cape said that it recognizes the need for promoting the well-being, mental and social health of local children.

Each year Mid-Cape partners with the local chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters, the nationwide organization dedicated to fostering one-on-one mentoring relationships, through both annual and event sponsorships.

Some of Mid-Cape’s team members are also directly involved in the program as big brothers and big sisters to local youth. Extending additional support, Mid-Cape wrapped a Truck-for-a-Cause in honor of Big Brothers Big Sisters and their work to enrich the lives of local children and ensure they are thriving, offering hope for the upcoming generation.

Mid-Cape said that it also wants to offer hope for those who suffer from depression, anxiety, and the toll trauma takes on the mind. The dealer points to the significance of mental health and noted that about one in four American adults struggles with a diagnosable mental health disorder, according to John Hopkins Medicine.

“Our team takes this reality very seriously,” said Crystal Pieschel, director of marketing at Mid-Cape.

Pieschel said that after a team vote to collectively select the next big cause for the company to get behind and fundraise, B Free Wellness Inc. was selected.

“The local organization transforming people’s lives by providing low-to-no cost services for those whose lives have been affected by trauma, addiction, and oppression,” Pieschel said.

“These issues not only affect members of our community, but first responders as well, who selflessly protect and serve around the clock,” Pieschel added.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, each year more firefighters and police officers are estimated to die by suicide than in the line of duty.

“Support for them in their battle against trauma, PTSD, depression, stress, and more is crucial for the betterment of the local community,” Pieschel said. “If they are healthy, our community will be healthier.”

Mid-Cape has partnered with The Cape Cod Foundation and B Free Wellness for this year’s 2022 First Responder Appreciation Day.

On June 18, at its South Dennis location, Mid-Cape Home Centers, B Free Wellness, and The Cape Cod Foundation will host a day of family fun.

All proceeds raised at the event will be donated directly to The Sean M. Gannon Memorial Fund and B Free Wellness, supporting the education of first responders, and aiding them in their fight for recovery and mental health.

“We’re excited to bring this event back to in-person this year,” Pieschel said. “It will be a day of touch-a-trucks, games, door prizes, food, and fun, all benefiting local first responders and their mental health.”

Mid-Cape operates six locations and serves professionals and DIYers in Cape Cod and the state’s South Shore.
