In 1902, three acres of potatoes helped to start the first Scheels store. Frederick A. Scheel, a German immigrant, used the $300 he earned from his first harvest of potatoes as a down payment on a small general merchandise store. The owner today is Richard “Dick” Thurs and he said the merchandise selection, “has changed dramatically over the years, from farm equipment and major household appliances to motorcycles and women’s clothing.”
Ohio
Owner Tim Cable runs all four locations in the Cincinnati Ace Group and is constantly sending employees to Stihl training. He said that by teaming with Ace Corp, he has been able to partner with some great brands like Stihl, Benjamin Moore, Ego, Weber, Big Green Egg, Traeger, Scotts and Hillman’s Keystart. Cable said, “those brands require specific and extensive training. That brand expertise has differentiated us and allowed us to be successful against the big boxes.”
Oklahoma
