The latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows the national unemployment rate for June inched up slightly to 3.7%, compared to 3.6% in May. Still, the report was overall better than expected. Construction employment continued to trend up in June, according to the report, up 21,000 — a figure that is in line with its average monthly gain in the last 12 months.

Elsewhere on the Dashboard – in a relatively quiet week for government statistics – gas prices gained six cents compared to the prior month, but were down 11 cents from a year ago.

The Stock Roundup, meanwhile, shows movement to the top right quadrant of monthly and annual gains.
