Vulcan Materials makes some management moves
Vulcan Materials Company has made a few changes to its management structure, all of which are effective Jan. 1, as part of an ongong succession process.
"These are key steps in our succession planning process, which is an important and ongoing focus of our Board of Directors," said Vulcan's chairman and CEO Don James. "We are blessed with great talent and experience at Vulcan, and these appointments position us well for future growth opportunities that will further enhance shareholder value. Tom, John, Danny and Dan have played immensely important roles for Vulcan and will continue to do so in their new positions. We are excited about our future, and about their roles in helping shape it."
Current SVP, South Region Tom Hill has been promoted to EVP and COO of Vulcan Materials. He will replace Danny Shepherd, who has been promoted to the position of vice chairman, in which he will advise the company on organization, business development and succession planning, among other things. He will also help with the current transitions taking place.
John McPherson, currently SVP, East Region, will step into the role of EVP and CFO of Vulcan Materials. He replaces Dan Sansone, who will take the role of EVP Strategy. In this role, Sansone will spearhead strategic initiatives and assist the transition of new senior managers. He plans to retire at the end of 2014.
