Throwback Thursday: An anniversary for 84

The Nov. 17, 2003 issue of Home Channel News, the forerunner of HBSDealer recognized the work of 84 Lumber executive Cecil Gravely, who began his career with the lumberyard company in 1967. In 2003, when the company was named Pro Dealer of the Year, the company’s sales had surpassed the $2 billion mark and expansion was in the air.

Gravely was store manager of the company’s St. Albans, West Virginia, location. His retirement video contains some fascinating insight and history on the LBM business, with contributions from Gravely, his customers and colleagues, and even 84 Lumber founder Joe Hardy.
