Riverhead Building Supply expands in two states
Riverhead Building Supply announced that it is acquiring United Builders Supply, a 4-unit pro dealer based in Westerly, R.I.
United’s locations include yards in Connecticut and Rhode Island. Prior to the sale, Riverhead Building Supply operated 12 locations throughout Long Island, N.Y. along with 2 locations in Rhode Island.
The acquisition will allow Riverhead to expand its footprint and gives the dealer an avenue to “better serve high-end, quality oriented customers,” the company said in a prepared statement.
Michael Slosberg, president of UBS, says the move will be good for both customers and employees.
“Riverhead has built a reputation on quality and service. They recognize the importance of putting good people in front of a customer. That’s been central to the success of UBS since the business was started by my father 77 years ago,” Slosberg said.
The sale is expected to close within the next 2 months and Slosberg said he plans to retire following a 50-plus year career in lumber and building materials. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“UBS is a strong, diversified company. They are respected in the industry and strive to maintain good relationships with their customers,” said John Callahan, president of Riverhead Building Supply. “We are excited to be entering into the hardscape arena with this acquisition and recognize the expertise UBS brings to the table.”
