84 Lumber’s Operation Appreciation
84 Lumber launched “Operation Appreciation,” a plan to support the troops, support the military and continue its support for Homes for Our Troops.
“84 Lumber relishes the opportunity to celebrate those who have sacrificed so much to protect our freedom,” said Maggie Hardy Magerko, president and owner, 84 Lumber Company. “From hiring military members as associates within our company, to supporting active and veteran military through donations and discounts, it is one of 84 Lumber’s great passions and missions to give back to our country’s veterans in any way possible.”
Throughout the month of May -- National Military Appreciation Month -- 84 Lumber is initiating special programs and activities, including an Operation Appreciation Facebook Contest. The dealer is giving away $8,400 each week in store credit to military families or service members.
Other parts of the program:
• Combat Wounded Preferred Parking
At each of its more than 250 store locations across the country, 84 Lumber is recognizing injured veterans through the installation of combat wounded parking signs and spaces. These preferred parking spots are in honor of Wounded Warriors Family Support.
• Store Discounts
Throughout the year, 84 Lumber offers all active and veteran military service members a 10% discount in each of its stores.
• Homes for Our Troops
In support of Homes for Our Troops, a nonprofit organization that builds specially adapted homes for severely injured veterans, 84 Lumber recently donated $30,000 worth of materials to help build a home for Sergeant Marcus Dandrea, who lost both of his legs in an IED blast in Sangin, Afghanistan, during his second deployment in 2011.
