LAT honoring Dealer and Associate of the Year

The Lumbermen’s Association of Texas (LAT> has announced its 2018 Dealer of Year and 2018 Associate of the Year winners.

Clay Epstein, vice president and third generation of his family at Dr. Ike’s, has been selected by LAT membership as its 2018 Dealer of the Year.

The dealer award is based on dedication to LAT and the industry, service to customers, participation in civic and community affairs and developing camaraderie among LAT members.

“I am very honored and pleased to accept the Dealer of the Year award,” said Epstein. “One of the benefits of being engaged in the associations like LAT is that it brings companies that are normally competitors, together, to work for the betterment of the industry and of the communities that we serve.”

Dr. Ike’s operates locations in North Laredo, South Laredo, and Zapata, Texas.

The associate award is based on level of service to LAT’s dealer members and dedication to and engagement with LAT for the betterment of the industry.

Herman Sanchez, business development representative at Pennsylvania Lumbermens Mutual Insurance Company (PLM), has been selected by the LAT membership as its 2018 Associate of the Year.

“It is truly an honor to receive this award. I have been in the insurance business for over 30 years, nine of those years with PLM,” said Sanchez.  “I have worked with agents, brokers, and different types of business owners throughout the years. It has been within the wood industry that I have met the kindest, most loyal and truest friends one can imagine. Thank you to everyone involved in honoring me with this award.  I am proud to be part of this wonderful wood community.”

“Clay and Herman have excelled at serving LAT and our industry,” said Jimmy Pate, president of the LAT Board of Directors and president of Pate’s Hardware, Inc.  “We look forward to bestowing on these leaders our association’s most prestigious honor as it is well deserved.”

The awards will be presented at the welcome dinner kicking-off the 133rd LAT Convention & Expo in San Antonio, Texas on April 17.

Founded in 1886, the Lumbermen’s Association of Texas (LAT) is a non-profit trade association that represents lumber and building material dealers, a majority independent, multi-generational family-owned businesses. The association is headquartered in Austin, Texas.
