Familiar names are on the Corporate Equality Index

2/20/2018

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation has released its Corporate Equality Index for 2014, which recognizes several names in the residential building and home improvement industry for their commitment to workplace equality for LGBT employees.

This year, a record 304 companies -- in various industries and parts of the country -- earned a top score of 100%.

Included in that cadre are 3M, Clorox, Owens Corning, Sears Holdings and Whirlpool.

For both Whirlpool and Owens Corning, 2014 marks a full decade on the list, or a 10th consecutive score of 100. Whirlpool is also the first appliance company to attain this recognition.

Clorox follows close behind at its ninth consecutive perfect score,

To earn a perfect score, companies must have comprehensive equal employment opportunity policies in place (encompassing sexual orientation as well as gender identity and expression), offer partner health and employment benefits, offer transgender-inclusive health coverage, maintain organizational competency programs as well as an employee resource group, demonstrate a public commitment to equality and exercise responsible citizenship.
