3M hosts Idea Exchange Lounge at SXSW
3M was in attendance at this year's South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas, where the company fostered an innovation brainstorm of sorts at its Idea Exchange Lounge.
Attendees were able to explore some of 3M's latest projects, including new LED lighting solutions, glass films and building adhesives.
The Lounge also featured a mobile charging station; networking opportunities; free cocktails and cupcakes during certain hours; free samples of 3M Post-it Products and Privacy Screen Protectors; and a live art demonstration from Amsterdam street artist Max Zorn, who uses Scotch Packaging Tape and light to create portraits.
3M also gave away a total of $10,000 in prizes to reward attendees who participated in its Twitter campaign. Each idea shared on Twitter via #3MIdeaExchange inflated the 3M Idea Balloon at the lounge space a little further; whoever popped the balloon each won $500.
The 3M Lounge opened its doors March 7-9 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Brush Square Park, next to the Austin Convention Center.
