Craig Dunnum has joined the LBM Advantage team, in the role of member sales manager for the Midwest region, and will serve members in the states of Minn., Wis., Iowa, Mo., Ill., and Ky.

“We are confident that Craig’s extensive lumber and building knowledge and understanding of our mission will provide the ability to deliver outstanding service to our membership,” said the company.

Dunnum brings more than 30 years of experience in the lumber and building industry having started his career working for independent distributor Amerhart and then premier timber, land, and forest giant, Weyerhaeuser, selling engineered lumber and cedar.

For the past six years, said LBM Advantage, Dunnum served as the Wisconsin engineered wood products sales manager at building products distributor BlueLinx.

From 2009 to 2013, he worked as an independent sales representative working on behalf of a large animal feed cooperative while also selling building products.

It was during this time that he learned a great deal about the principles of cooperatives and how they serve members, said the firm. “Craig tells us that living in a small farm community, he has always embraced the value and fairness of cooperatives.”

“I have spent 33 years in the LBM industry. Corporate consolidation has been an accelerated trend the past few years,” said Dunnum. “The cooperative model is one of the only ways independent dealers will have an opportunity to buy better and survive as private equity groups buy up the competition. LBM Advantage is on the right side of this solution.

Dunnum and his wife are Future Farmers of America alumni, American Cancer Society supporters, and benefactors of many agricultural-related organizations.

Headquartered in New Windsor, N.Y., LBM Advantage is the country’s leading wholly member-owned buying cooperatives for the lumber and building materials industry.
