2024 marks the 85th anniversary of the founding of Koopman Lumber, a family-owned building, lumber and home improvement supplier across Massachusetts. The Koopman Lumber team is celebrating this milestone across its 13 locations throughout 2024.

“In 1939, my grandfather Peter Koopman started collecting, storing and, with the help of my grandmother, selling lumber and supplies to local builders. Contractors would just ring the bell or yell from the driveway like they were family, and that’s still the core of what we stand for at Koopman Lumber,” said Dirk Koopman, Koopman Lumber CEO.

The past year has marked a period of significant growth for the company. The Koopman Lumber team commemorated the first anniversary of its Dennis, Mass., location with a special celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony in May. Koopman also announced the acquisition of a new store in Pembroke, Mass., expanding the company's footprint to the Cape Cod’s South Shore.

Koopman Lumber's leadership team also remains committed to community outreach and charitable causes.

“Starting with our original stores, we’ve always embraced being part of the community, supporting children’s sports, local food banks and other nonprofits and charities,” said Denise Brookhouse, CFO of Koopman Lumber. “We view each day at every Koopman location as an opportunity to add to the lives of the people that come into our stores.”

Tony Brookhouse, COO of Koopman Lumber adds: “As we look back at 85 years of history at Koopman Lumber, we know that we owe our success to the builders, tradesmen and homeowners that have been walking into our locations. We look forward to serving those customers and new members of the Koopman Lumber family for the next 85 years and beyond."
