ILMDA names R.P. Lumber's Plummer as Lumberman of the Year

The Illinois Lumber and Material Dealers Association (ILMDA) has named Jason Plummer, vice president of R.P. Lumber in Edwardsville, as its 2020 Lumberman of the Year.  

The Lumberman of the Year award is the highest individual honor given in the Illinois retail lumber industry, the ILMDA said. Those honored with this award are individuals who exemplify selfless dedication to the promotion of professionalism within the lumber industry. 

The Lumberman of the Year is a peer-recognition award given each year to a person who lumber dealers across Illinois recognize for their many years of serving the independent lumber dealers of Illinois. The nomination and election are accomplished through the ILMDA Executive Team that includes past presidents and the officers.

Plummer is an ILMDA college scholarship recipient and the second in his family to receive this award, following his father Robert Plummer, who received the award in 2013.   

Since entering the business, Plummer has chaired many committees and served on the ILMDA Board of Directors for over a decade. He was instrumental in establishing the current ILMDA long-range plan and is intimately involved in helping ILMDA to thrive, the association said.

Plummer is currently the vice president of ILMDA and will serve a two-year term as the president of ILMDA beginning in 2022.

Lumber Co., Inc. is a full-service retail home center and building materials supplier with 72 locations in Illinois, Missouri, Wyoming and Iowa, The dealer also serves customers in Colorado, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. R.P. Lumber was founded by Robert Plummer in 1977.

Located in Springfield, Ill., the ILMDA, represents about 90 retail companies and 65 associated companies that are suppliers of goods and services for retail members in approximately 400 locations.
