Home Depot opens in Manhattan
Parking will be challenging, as it is everywhere in New York City. But foot traffic and area demographics are extremely attractive on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
This is where the Home Depot opened a new store on Oct. 24. The 116,000 square foot store takes over a retail space formerly occupied by a Bed Bath & Beyond at the corner of First Avenue and 61st Street.
It’s the second Home Depot on the island of Manhattan. It’s other store is located at 23rd Street in the Chelsea neighborhood.
The Upper East Side project has been in the works for years. Back in 2020, at the peak of the pandemic, Home Depot signed a 20-year lease for the property. At the time, the space was described as ideal for Home Depot because of its high ceilings, loading access and large footprint.
