Home Depot activates Hurricane Command Center
With Hurricane Michael becoming the latest menace to threaten the U.S. coast – specifically the Florida Panhandle – The Home Depot has quickly jumped into action and activated its Disaster Response Command Center at the Store Support Center in Atlanta.
The Atlanta-based retailer said the company is working around the clock to ensure it is supporting coastal communities, with combined efforts by the merchandising, supply chain and operations teams.
Additionally, The Home Depot Foundation is partnering with the Red Cross and Operation Blessing, as well as disaster NGO partners, to preposition supplies for affected
The Home Depot said that its stores are a “vital part of the community infrastructures during disasters.”
“Our mission is to be the last store to close and the first to reopen, keeping in mind the safety of our associates and storm conditions,” The Home Depot said in a press release.
Hurricane Michael has grown into a Category 2 hurricane and could be the strongest storm to hit the Panhandle region in 13 years. The National Hurricane Service has predicted that Michael could hit the coast as a Category 4 storm.
A hurricane watch has been issued from the Alabama/Florida border westward to the Mississippi/Alabama border.
