Hatchet Hardware expands again

1/14/2021

Hatchet Hardware, the fast-growing Upstate New York hardware chain, has struck again.

The dealer has opened its fifth store in Niskayuna, roughly 20 miles north of Albany.

An Ace Hardware dealer, Hatchet Hardware opened its first location in 2014. Since, the company has continued to expand throughout New York’s Captial Region.

In 2019, Hatchet opened its third location in Waterford and expanded into Palatine Bridge about a year later.

The latest Hatchet Hardware includes a specialty goods section, including gifts, books and decor items.

In August of 2020 the Grasso family of Angelo, Giovanni, and Erika, owners of Hatchet Hardware,  took on the task of renovating the former Morgan Stanley building. Like many construction projects, there were setbacks, including bad weather and the COVID-19 pandemic, Hatchet said.

But the store officially opened its doors earlier this month. Brands the store is carrying include Benjamin Moore, STIHL, DeWalt, Carhartt, and Yeti.

Taylor Clement, buyer and merchandiser for Hatchet Hardware, has been hard at work curating the store’s specialty goods section, including gifts, books, houseplants, and home decor items. The store will also offer annuals and perennials this spring.

“We’re excited to get to know the community and start working with creators from around Niskayuna to bring in new local goods,” Clement said.
