Tanglefoot sold to Contech

2/20/2018

Contech Enterprises has announced the acquisition of Tanglefoot, the Grand Rapids, Mich., maker of adhesive pest control products for flying insects and nuisance birds. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Tanglefoot, which began manufacturing flypaper in 1885, will add several products to Contech’s green garden and pest management line, including insect traps, tree care and animal repellents. Tanglefoot products are currently sold to city parks and urban forestry departments and are available to consumers in lawn and garden centers, nurseries and hardware stores.

Headquartered in Victoria, B.C., Contech Enterprises is a designer and provider of advanced animal training, control and wellness products for pet owners and gardeners. Two of its better-known products are the ScareCrow motion-activated sprinkler and the WaterDog automatic outdoor pet drinking fountain. Contech also makes non-toxic traps for yellow jackets and wasps, outdoor flies, flour and pantry moths and fruit flies.

“Effective, green pest management and bio-pesticides are the future of the industry,” said Contech president and CEO Mark Grambart. “Tanglefoot has been a leader in the green pest management market since before most companies even knew the market existed. We are thrilled to be adding this trusted brand to our offering.”
