Store owner considers restaurant play

2/20/2018

Fuller's Home & Hardware, an Ace dealer in Hinsdale, Ill., is not your typical hardware store. Located in an historic corner building on a picturesque main street downtown, most of the ground floor is a classic neighborhood hardware store.

The second floor -- known as "The Second Floor" -- is an upscale home decor and kitchen products specialty store.

According to a report in the Chicago Tribune, the store's owners are considering swapping out the Second Floor, and replacing it with a sports bar and restaurant called "Fullersburg Grill and Spirits."

The home decor and kitchen products business is struggling, the newspaper reported. And the restaurant could help save the hardware store from closing.

Fuller's Home & Hardware is a 2012 Home Channel News Hardware Store All-Star selection for Illinois.

The store's owner, Doug Fuller, is seeking an extension of liquor sales for the proposed  restaurant, which would be walled off from the hardware store, according to the newspaper report.

The proposal is being considered by Hinsdale officials.
