Home improvement warehouses such as Home Depot and Lowe's dominate the power tool category amond DIYers, especially among the 35-44 age group.
That's one of the findings of a study on shopping behavior from The Farnsworth Group.
According to the data, the nubmer two channel for hand and power tool purchases, and a distant number-two at that, is the independent hardware store. This channel was most effective in the 45-54 age bracket, where 13.6% of survey respondents said theiry last purchase of a hand or power tool was at a hardware store.
