Short and Paulk makes acquisition in Georgia
Short and Paulk Supply Company of Tifton, Ga., acquired Laing Hardware in Dawson, Ga.
Laing Hardware was opened in 1983, by Jack Laing, as a division of Laing Implement Company.
Short and Paulk has closed the store for approximately three weeks to remodel and re-merchandise the location. The retailer said it hopes to be re-opened for business in Dawson in early March. It plans on holding a grand opening in April.
According to Jay Short, President and CEO of Short and Paulk Supply Company, “Dawson will be a great addition and will help to better serve our customers throughout Southwest Georgia. The Laing family has served the Dawson community for many years and we hope to continue to carry on their tradition by being actively involved in the community.”
When completed, the store will offer customers an updated interior featuring a full-service hardware and building products center. The facility will feature a full line lumberyard, a millwork showroom displaying a variety of windows, doors, moulding and hardware available for special order.
In addition to this new location in Dawson, the company operates lumberyards in Tifton, Sylvester, and Albany and two Tifton-based manufacturing plants, one for doors, and another for roof and floor trusses. The plants currently deliver products to work sites across south Georgia. Short and Paulk truss plant also wholesales both trusses and engineered lumber to other lumberyards in Georgia.
