Role reversal: Community helps hardware store

4/23/2018
Trio Hardware  & Paint of Plainview, N.Y., on the state’s Long Island has a long history of helping the community with large and small projects. So, when it was time for the hardware store to make a big move to a new location a mile or so up the road, the community returned the favor.

According to an article in Newsday newspaper, some 100 volunteers – friends, customers, family members – helped the Trio Hardware move to its new location over the weekend. The Do it Best dealer at 1655 Old Country Road measures about 6,000 sq. ft., which is about twice the size of the previous store.

A video of the big move can be seen here.

Trio Hardware & Paint was a winner of the 2013 Independent Small Business of the Year award from Independent We Stand, a group that promotes independent businesses of all varieties around the country.
