Ohio hardware store to close

2/20/2018

Kent Hardware, which has operated in two locations in downtown Kent, Ohio, since 1884, is closing, the Courier News reported.

The store will hold its last full day of business on Aug. 15 and will begin a liquidation sale Aug. 19. Wayne Demmer, president of Demmer Hardware, which owns the business, said he expects the liquidation sale to take up to four weeks, the article said.

The city of Kent had purchased the building from the Demmer family in 2007 as part of a redevelopment plan. Kent Economic Development director Dan Smith said the city has no immediate plans for the site or building.

The Demmer family also runs a hardware store in Massillon, Ohio.
