Metzger’s Do it Best names new GM

David Jolly, former director of merchandising at Russell Do it Centers, has been hired as general manager of Metzger’s Do it Best Hardware.

Jolly, who is scheduled to start his new job in August, will be responsible for the sales, personnel and marketing operations of Metzger’s, which has locations in Los Alamos, N.M., and White Rock, N.M. He will report to owner Lee Metzger and president Greg Metzger, who oversees all the company’s financial operations. 

Metzger’s, a third generation family business, was founded in Los Alamos in 1947. The Los Alamos store is 12,000 sq. ft. and has a separate full-service gas/convenience/service station. The store was recently remodeled to the Do it Best Signature Store Design. The White Rock store is about 8,000 sq. ft. and has a Mobil gas station in the front with 24-hour pumps.

Russell Do it Centers is an Alabama-based chain of Do it Best hardware stores.

“I’m excited to be part of another family owned company with real potential,” Jolly told HCN. “What Metzger's is doing in Los Alamos and White Rock shows there is still real potential for a well-run hometown store.”
