Mahurin’s next stop: Orchard Supply Hardware
Steve Mahurin, the former Home Depot and True Value Co. merchandising executive, will take over as the senior merchant at San Jose, Calif.-based Orchard Supply Hardware.
Mahurin's appointment as executive VP and chief merchandising officer takes effect May 2. He will replace Steve Olsen, who has been named senior VP and chief strategy officer for the California hardware chain. Both men will report to Mark Baker, who was named CEO earlier this year.
“Steve brings a wealth of merchandising and home improvement experience to Orchard,” Baker said in a prepared statement. “With his track record and past success in driving business performance, focusing on customers and strengthening the company’s business position in the marketplace, Steve will be a great asset to Orchard as our senior merchant.”
Before joining Orchard Supply Hardware, Mahurin served as executive VP merchandising for Office Depot where he was responsible for all merchandising and related functions. Previously, he held the position of senior VP and chief merchandising officer for True Value, where he oversaw the merchandising and supply chain organization. At the co-op, he gained the reputation of a first-class merchant, and his departure from True Value was viewed with disappointment by some members.
Prior to his time with True Value, Mahurin held a number of senior positions over nearly 13 years at The Home Depot, where he ultimately served as a senior VP.
Steve Olsen will assume the role of senior VP and chief strategy officer responsible for corporate strategy, supply chain and IT. In this role, Olsen will lead major initiatives involving inventory levels, supplier logistics and store inventory flow, all issues critical to improving in-stock and customer service levels.
Orchard Supply Hardware is a regional home improvement retailer operating 89 full-service home and garden stores located throughout California.
