Hardware All Stars: North Carolina & Kentucky
What do we mean when we say, "All Star?"
What do we mean when we say, "All Star?"
It helps to mention that this year's Hardware All Star selection (sponsored by Epicor) was no easy task to arrive at. Many outstanding retailers were brought to our attention, each of which had a compelling story.
However, it's the stores that go above and beyond the call of duty that get the prize, and that can mean different things for different retailers.
The April issue of Hardware + Building Supply Dealer magazine contains the full list of 2015 honorees. Here are highlights from the class of 2015, continuing today with Kentucky and North Carolina.
Ashland, Kentucky: Gibbs True Value
For locals, Gibbs is nothing short of a landmark. Some would say Gibbs had a hand in building, fixing or refreshing the majority of homes in the area, whether it be through helping homeowners find the items they need or offering sage how-to advice to enterprising local DIYers.
For this long-time establishment, it all counts as "keeping it in the family."
West Jefferson, North Carolina: Parker Tie Company
A big player in the paint market, Parker Tie Company has been in business since 1935, supplying the western North Carolina community with a complete line of building supplies, plumbing, electrical and hardware.
Plus, a kitchen and bath showroom is designed to make friends with remodelers and homeowners.
