DeWalt launches new compact lithium ion tools
Baltimore-based DeWalt has announced the launch of a new compact line of cordless lithium ion power tools.
The tools, which include a drill driver, impact driver, hammer drill and right angle drill, will be smaller, lighter and charge quicker than the company’s larger comparable tools. They will be available for individual sale or in two combo kits.
They are intended for cabinetmakers, HVAC professionals as well as electrical, mechanical and general contractors, who perform overhead drilling and fastening applications, the company said. A new ergonomic design is intended to offer a better grip and increase user comfort, while the lighter battery (approximately 1 lb.) is intended to decrease user fatigue.
“As a result of extensive user research, we understand that professional contractors need tools that offer best-in-class power and performance in a compact package that is both lightweight and small in size,” said Frank Mannarino, VP cordless product development for DeWalt. “The new platform of 18-volt compact lithium ion products has been designed to meet these needs, and we are confident that the line will deliver the same guaranteed tough job site solutions that our users have come to expect from DeWalt.”
The new compact line, tools and batteries are also compatible with the company’s complete line of 18-volt-based cordless tools. All DeWalt batteries can also be charged on the lithium ion charger base, which is compatible with nickel cadmium batteries.
