All Stars Revisited: Pa., S.C., S.D.
The 2016 class of Hardware and Building Supply All Stars appeared in the May issue of HBSDealer. Here are some intimate portraits of three family-and-community focused honorees.
Pennsylvania
Williams Ace Hardware
From BBQ cook-offs in the summer to the Gingerbread Home building contests the first week of December, the Williams family knows how to create fun events for their customers. They have just as much passion for the truly important matters, as they are actively involved in raising money for the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.
South Carolina
Hamm Hardware
It’s not unusual to find three generations of Hamms working alongside one another at family-owned Hamm Hardware & Building Supplies. Second generation leader Ladison Hamm’s engagement with the area’s emergency response teams has led to the store devoting a corner section of the sales floor to a selection of fire and rescue equipment and supplies.
South Dakota
Canton Home and Farm
Canton Home and Farm, a farm store and lumberyard, is only three years old, but in no time the staff got intimately involved with the community. It holds an annual Customer Appreciation Day-Anniversary Sale-Pork Loin Feed where friends and customers can win door prizes and enjoy pork loin sandwiches from local chef Pat Minihan, owner of The Meat Wagon.
