Anna Russo and Wendy Scribner
Hancock Lumber announced today that Chief People Officer Wendy Scribner is set to retire in April following nearly 40-years at the company.
With the retirement scheduled, Hancock Lumber aka Team Hancock also announced that Anna Russo will succeed Scribner.
In a press release issued by the Casco, Maine-based prodealer said, the company said, “After a career spanning nearly four decades and a range of roles, it’s hard to adequately describe the impact Wendy has had on the organization and the gratitude the company has for her contributions. Hancock Lumber truly has been blessed to have Wendy Scribner on their team.”
Hancock Lumber noted that Scribner’s decision was based on wanting to spend more time with her family, including four grandsons.
But Scribner also spearheaded the search for her successor while bringing the dealer’s executive team “incredible final candidates.”
Team Hancock said "it is thrilled" to announce Russo is the company’s incoming chief people officer. Russo officially joined Hancock Lumber last month.
“Anna absolutely impressed me during our interview time together!,” said Kevin Hancock, chairman and managing owner of Hancock Lumber. “While we had great finalists, Anna’s communication skills, her intuition about how to communicate, her ability to bring love, clarity and toughness, and her affinity for blue collar workers blew me away.”
Starting this role is a bit of a homecoming for Russo, as she is no stranger to Hancock Lumber.
Russo began her human resources career at Hancock Lumber when she was hired by Scribner in 2000 during the company’s Bethel mill acquisition and transition. After eight years in HR—ultimately serving as the sawmill’s human resources manager—Russo moved on from Hancock Lumber on a path that led her to a variety of roles in human resources including HR Director, Safety Compliance Officer, and HR Senior Business Partner with several companies throughout Maine.
