Floor & Decor is keeping its world when it comes to store openings in 2022 and beyond.

In the past two months, the home improvement and specialty flooring retailer has opened new warehouse-format stores in California, Georgia, Louisiana, Illinois, Maryland, and Ohio.

Taking into account this latest group of store openings, Floor & Decor now operates more than 170 stores and 5 design centers in 34 states. As of the end of its first quarter in March, the Atlanta, Ga.-based company operated about 166 stores.

The next opening is slated for June 6 in Wilmington, N.C. This location will be overseen by Milissia Sparkman, the new store’s chief executive merchant.

“We are eager to introduce both Professional customers and Homeowners to our one-stop solution for their flooring needs with an extensive selection of in-stock, trend-right flooring options. We offer great service and quality flooring at unbeatable prices,” Sparkman said.

As is the case with all of Floor & Decor’s store openings, the retailer is zeroing in on pro customers and contractors. This includes invites to architects, designers, remodelers, flooring installers, realtors, and other pros to tour the store. These tours also allow for pros to meet and interact the new location’s Pro Services Team.

“It is essential to us to build relationships with our local professionals. Their success is our success,” said Sparkman. “The store tours and giveaways give us a chance to support our community and tell them about our PRO Premier Rewards and all the benefits it can bring to their business.”

In September 2010, Floor & Decor reached a milestone with the opening of its 150th store in South Austin, Texas.

And now the company is on track to open nine new stores in total during the second quarter of 2022 and 32 stores for the year. Each new location measures roughly 80,000 square feet.

Last month, Floor & Decor reported that its first quarter 2022 sales jumped nearly 32% to $1.03 billion from sales of $782.5 million in the prior first quarter while comparable store sales increased 14.3% for the period.

Earlier this year, Floor & Decor also outlined its growth strategy for the next three years and said it expects to realize 20% sales growth along with 20% store count growth.
