EYE on RETAIL: Wayfair’s big store
Boston-based Wayfair Inc., the home-furnishings-focused e-commerce giant announced plans for the grand opening of its inaugural large-format Wayfair store.
The Wayfair store's grand opening is set for May 23. The store will measure 150,000 square feet, and is located in Edens Plaza in Wilmette, Illinois.
The store is described as a one stop shop for all things home - including furniture, home decor, housewares and home improvement products, for any style space or budget. It also has an onsite restaurant, The Porch.
“You’ll be able to shop, explore, and be inspired like never before with huge immersive and interactive experiences across 19 departments, from furniture and decor to outdoor and home improvement,” Wayfair said in a previous announcement about the store. “Plus, sip and snack while you shop with treats from our debut in-store restaurant!”
The Wayfair family of brands includes:
- Wayfair: Every style. Every home.
- AllModern: All of modern, made simple.
- Birch Lane: Classic style for joyful living.
- Joss & Main: The ultimate style edit for home.
- Perigold: The destination for luxury home.
- Wayfair Professional: A one-stop Pro shop.
The company has opened physical stores before, mostly pop-up stores for its AllModern brand. The Illinois store marks the first significant venture into brick-and-mortar retail.
Wayfair generated $12.0 billion in net revenue for the year-ended Dec. 31.
