Ace Hardware recently announced the shuttering of Grommet, said Jules Pieri, CEO and founder, on her LinkedIn post. The platform is laying off 44 people and will close for good July 31.
Also today, Grommet put up on its website an “Everything Must Go” liquidation sale notice.
Since 2008, Grommet launched over 3,000 products from small businesses and emerging entrepreneurs, building a community of over four million loyal customers, said a note on its website.
Now everything must go. The online consumer retailer is closing its digital doors and liquidating its inventory, offering up to 60% off, per its website.
Grommet was acquired by Ace Hardware corporation in 2017.
When asked for comment about the closing, Pieri said on her post she was, “wildly proud of the human legacy and business model innovation.”
