Spirit of Life event sets a date
The City of Hope 2017 Spirit of Life Reception is set for Orlando, on the eve of the International Builders’ Show.
This year’s honoree is also set – in concrete, so to speak – as the Quikrete Companies, represented by the Winchester family, have been named the 2017 Spirit of Life honoree. The role of honoree is part fundraising champion and part ambassador for the unique hospital and research center based just outside of Los Angeles.
The 2017 Spirit of Life Reception & Golf event will take place Jan. 9 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, Florida.
An announcement from the City of Hope described the Winchester family, owners of the Quikrete Cos., as long-time supporters of the charity. “Their dedication and support to City of Hope began over 34 years ago at the beginning of our industry efforts to raise funds for the groundbreaking research and patient care for cancer, diabetes and other life threatening diseases. It is our hope that you will consider supporting our cause again this year and joining us to celebrate this year’s honoree The Quikrete Companies."
Quikrete and the Winchester Family follow in a long line of industry leaders honored with the Spirit of Life award. They include Robert Strickland and Leonard Herring of Lowe’s (1983); Bernie Marcus of The Home Depot (1986, and 2001); Paul Hylbert of ProBuild Holdings (2005); Maggie Magerko of 84 Lumber (2006); and Bob Tellier of Orchard Supply Hardware (2016).
